"This conference, as in the past, again provided a forum for emerging as well as established researchers to read papers and to receive feedback on their current and ongoing research in these disciplines" said Van der Westhuizen.
"It also benefitted from the contributions of fiduciary practitioners who present on practical aspects of these disciplines. The general theme that emerged from this conference was the need for revision of the RSA trust and succession law."
This year's conference was the ninth since its inception in 2010. The 2023 event was also the first conference held since the Covid-19 pandemic broke out.
It was collaboratively organised by Profs Willie van der Westhuizen (University of the Free State and consultant to Millers Attorneys George), Elmarie Knoetze (Nelson Mandela University) and Francois du Toit (University of Cape Town).
